The Net Debt-to-GDP ratio is a measure of a country's national debt as a percentage of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It is an important indicator of the health of an economy. A low ratio suggests that the economy is producing a large number of goods and services, and has profits that are sufficient to pay back its debts. This ratio is used to assess the sustainability of government finances, with a stronger than forecast reading generally being supportive for the BRL, while a weaker than forecast reading is generally negative for the BRL.
