The Capacity Utilization Rate measures the percentage of production capacity in the U.S. that is being used, including resources such as factories, mines, and utilities. This rate provides insight into the overall growth and demand in the economy. It can also serve as an early indicator of consumer price inflation. A higher than expected reading is generally seen as positive for the USD, while a lower than expected reading is seen as negative.
